Application: As part of the strategic urban security project to provide 24/7 protection at security locations, network-based video surveillance is one of the most effective tools for fighting crime, detecting, and preventing criminal activities, thus ensuring the safety of citizens.
Yunlin City, Taiwan, launched the strategic urban security project in June 2010. This project required 24/7 security coverage of specific areas throughout the week.
To meet the city’s needs, a local Messoa partner utilized various video surveillance solutions. This project was part of the local authorities’ strategy to increase the city’s safety and improve the living standards of its citizens.
The project helped local police officers support citizens in protecting them from crime and allowed them to monitor a wider range of criminal activities. As part of the project, 60 SCR515PRO traffic control cameras were deployed in various locations across Yunlin City.
Three central districts of the city (Daulin, Linei, and Zilo) were selected to use the SCR515PRO cameras. According to the chief of police in Yunlin City, Messoa cameras were chosen due to their high-quality images and reliability, even when compared to other network cameras. The wireless functionality eliminates the need for cabling, making the installation process easier, although this comes at the cost of sacrificing image quality.
The ability to remotely control the cameras from the central police offices allows officers to assess situations before arriving at the scene and prepare accordingly. As a result of receiving high-detail and clear images, even in unfavorable weather conditions and poor visibility, crime and criminal activities have noticeably decreased.
