Santa Marta, located along the Caribbean Sea and rich in history, has become a tourist city. The job opportunities in this city attract many people from Colombia, while its urban development cannot keep up with the growing number of cars in the city. This has led to severe and concentrated traffic congestion in the city’s streets.
To reduce this traffic, the city’s traffic control center decided to implement traffic regulations on vehicle license plates during busy hours. To monitor the enforcement of these regulations, the authorities decided to install security cameras at ten key locations around the city.
Based on previous successful experience with Messoa traffic control cameras by the local Messoa representative in the country, the decision was made to use these cameras for this challenging task. In each location, based on the number of road lanes, 3 SCR515PRO cameras and 1 SDR431U camera were used.
The SCR515PRO camera is designed to capture high-resolution close-up images of vehicle license plates. It is equipped with the latest Messoa technologies, including CatchAll II and Lumi III. The CatchAll technology enables the camera to track vehicle information even at high speeds. Lumi technology allows the camera to deliver high-detail images under challenging lighting conditions.
The SDR431U is a vandal-proof camera with a fixed lens, 30-meter IR, and mechanical day/night capabilities, ensuring 24-hour protection. This camera was selected for providing a comprehensive and panoramic view of the area where the traffic control cameras are installed.
