Giant pandas are among the most studied animals worldwide. When China sent two giant pandas to Taipei Zoo in 2008, the people of Taiwan were filled with great excitement. Taipei Zoo, which is owned by the Taipei City Government, chose the SDS710 PTZ cameras to monitor the pandas’ condition.

These cameras are equipped with Auto Tracking software, allowing zoo staff to easily track the movements of the pandas throughout the day and night. This type of video footage is highly valuable for scientists.

Giant pandas are an endangered species native to the mountain ranges of central China. They are found at altitudes between 1400 to 3500 feet in the Sichuan, Shaanxi, and Gansu provinces. Taipei Zoo has created a dedicated Zinburg exhibition specifically for these two pandas, replicating their natural habitat in the wild. Throughout the year, the humidity in this area is maintained between 60-70%. The Messoa camera operates in humidity conditions ranging from 20-80% and has an IP66/67 rating. For this reason, the camera was the best choice for the zoo.
