Application: Preventing Prisoner Riots

A prison in Cuenca, Ecuador, faced the following issue: In 2001, the facility housed 214 prisoners. By 2007, the number had risen to 468, and the population continued to grow. The prison authorities became concerned about potential prisoner riots. They decided to use Messoa cameras to monitor the situation and prevent dangerous situations from arising.

There were many challenges in this project. First, the prison was very large (500 square kilometers). Additionally, the cameras were at risk of being damaged during riots. Furthermore, the lighting and shadows made image capture difficult.

The practical solution was to use SDS730Pro and SDS750Pro cameras. These cameras are speed domes with low lux capabilities. Both cameras feature an IK-10 standard, die-cast aluminum bodies, and polycarbonate covers that are resistant to breakage and cracking. With an IP67/66 rating, these cameras are equipped with a blower and heater to keep the camera free from fog and cool.
